You don’t need much it in a bottle opener. Outside of it’s mandatory ability to open beers there isn’t anything else it’s really required to do. There are convenience factors like whether or not it will attach to your keys or fit in your pocket. Substance points for how it looks, usability and likelihood of getting stolen. The tumbled 304 Stainless Steel Loop Bottle Opener by Oscar Diaz is capable of all of those things. At 5″ x 3″ you’re probably not going to want to attach it to your keys, or walk around with it like a bike lock, but they’re both possibilities. At the end of the day, it’s simple stainless steel bottle opener that happens to be pretty cool… even if it almost looks like something you would have drawn on your friend’s head when he passed out in college.
Diaz approached this bottle opener as an industrial tool, simplified in a manner to provoke curiosity. Cast in Milwaukee, WI, the design is equally informed by its end use, the rugged material and the manufacturing process.
Loop is finished in a satin electropolish, and will open bottles for as long as you’re drinking them.
Created for American brand Field, Loop has a symmetrical form that reduces the visibility of the mould line necessary for the casting process. “Because the mould line matches the edge of the object, you barely see it,”. The rough finish not only looks great, but ensures that your Loop will last for as long as you do.
