Although it was designed in 2011, Note design studio’s Bolt won the 2013 Wallpaper design award for best stool. Consisting only of four wooden cylinders and a painted steel ring keeping them in place, Bolt is the epitome of simple, no frills design. Two finishes are available: Matte black stain with a copper finished ring and a natural Beech wood finish with an orange lacquered ring. At just 41cm high and 45cm wide, it is classified as a low stool, which is also said to be both surprisingly comfortable and able to double as a small end table.
