they’re called green toys because they save energy. how much energy is saved ? on average(*), every pound of recycled milk jugs used in the making of green toys:
saves energy equal to 3,000 aaa batteries.
saves enough electricity to power a tv set for three weeks.
saves enough electricity to keep a laptop computer running for a month.
(*) compared to non-recycled plastic.
green toys says it uses recycled milk containers as the main ingredient in creating their toys. when you finish your milk and toss the container in the recycling bin, the milk containers are collected at your curb by a local recycling company who separates them from all the other types of plastic. next, the milk containers are reprocessed into super clean fresh plastic. for the plastic geeks, the plastic material is high-density polyethylene (or HDPE). this material is considered one of the safest, cleanest plastics around.

Inventor and entrepreneur James Dyson used a defect in the Airblade drier as the springboard for an innovative table fan. what looks like a modern sculpture is actually a fan—with no blades. Dyson says the device came out of a defect in the Airblade, the energy-efficient hand drier for public restrooms that his company, Dyson, launched in 2006. Despite its jet-like exhaust, engineers noticed that the machine was trapping a lot of air inside. “We had no intention to make a fan,” he says. “But the failure made us curious. We asked, What could we do with this high-speed air?”
The new fan, branded the Dyson Air Multiplier, launched on Oct. 12 on Dyson.com. The 10-inch version sells for $299.99, while the 12-inch model sells for $329.99.

Ground – breaking lamp sets new bar for LED task lights.
Maybe LED is king until a newer technology proves otherwise. out with the bluish or yellow-tinged glare – the Element lamp produces neutral, 3500K white light (and very bright), with a large footprint. its single LED casts just one shadow, unlike other lamps that contain rows or clusters of LEDs creating multiple shadows on the work surface. The 60,000-hour bulb will probably never need replacing, but just in case, it is user serviceable. best of all, it consumes less than 7 watts of energy while vibrantly lighting up a tabletop.
An award-winner in design.
