If a chair could resemble a playground apparatus, then that is exactly what Konstantin Grcic has achieved with his Chair_One Public Seating System 2. Die-cast aluminum bases are connected by a anodized aluminum plank, painted in polyester powder and connecting three seats together. One version of this seating system by Grcic is modified by adding a small, circular or square-shaped aluminum table in HPL laminate. This seating system has an industrial feel that is complimented by the design’s innately urban sensibility. Suitable for outdoor use, colors include: white, black and matte black.

These upholstered benches convey a comfort with a minimalistic approach. A broader front that slims up on the sides is of a generous size that adds to the effect of suspension given by metal tubes supporting the couch. These are the features perfectly expressed by the name given to this project. “Cloud”.
With backrests smaller than the seats, where at the ends the fold-back part, there is a spot with which to rest your arms.
A rounded joint, combines benches of different sizes, to create various seat lengths.

The jumper chair consists of one continous oversized woolen knitted cover, with qualities very much like that of a jumper, the knitted cover is wrapped over the solid wood structure and bent to steel legs. The cover is knitted on a “knit and wear” machine that is adapted for clothing garments but this is where the fashion and design production processes divide. One the garment is completed it is then run through a high degree wash to attain a seamlesss and upholstered effect, eradicating most of the stretch from the wool but presenting a high quality fabric and is suitable for contract application. The jumper is available in three different colorways.

Have a seat in the human catapult! Not really, though the sleek curve of the spooned seat crooking into the stem, to base, lends an imaginative use for the uniquely designed stool. Made of plastic polypropylene, the specially reinforced curve of the seat is meant to ensure comfort and flexibility. Designed by Antonio Citterio and Toan Nguyen, the gas lift pump adjusts the seat height nearly 8 inches, the handle discreetly hidden within the seat. Available in a variety of colors, this saucy stool is available by Kartell at a going rate of $620.

The HAY-produced, moulded plywood Shanghay chair is composed of four small boards that fold around each other to form “the simplest chair imaginable.” Originally conceived for the Danish Pavillion for the Shanghai World Expo 2010, the chair was created to be a single segment of a long social bench that extends throughout both the inside and outside of the pavillion, in collaboration between BIG and Jeppe Hein. Multi-colored and easy to assemble, dissemble and reassemble, these pieces offer the versatility to create whatever hybrid design of the Shanghay you like.
