In 1950, there were almost no shops in the U.S. that sold modern furniture and design.

Ralph and Mary Rapson wanted to change that. While Ralph selected the designs and worked his day job as a practicing architect and architecture professor at MIT, Mary worked tirelessly on the many details – financial, promotional and operational – of opening a new store for modern design.

It all came together. Rapson-Inc. opened in 1950, just a block off Copley Square in the heart of Boston. Although later stores, such as Design/Research (also in Boston) would be larger and better known, they followed the trail blazed by Rapson-Inc.

One of just a handful of modern classic rocking chairs, this iconic form has been sought after since its first introduction by H.G. Knoll in 1945. Always known for its fusion of American woodcraft and modern lines, the quintessential Rapson Rocker continues to be cut, fit, and finished by American craftsmen in your choice of responsible wood and natural webbing.

Available in American Black Walnut or Rock Maple, with hand-webbed cotton or leather. Every Greenbelt® chair comes with very subtle Ralph Rapson signature on the rear cross-brace as a mark of authenticity.

– All finishes are Greenguard®-certified. All wood is SFI®-certified.

Blow glass table. Konstantin grcic.

You don't set the glass on the table- the glass is the table. Established & Sons have crafted a hand-blown glass table, designed by Konstantin Grcic. The unique design is a two-part construct. A voluptuous, free-form glass bubble makes up the base of the table, and is topped by a translucent, colored table-top sheet of glass. This piece, named Blow, represents the work achievable using the skill of fine Venini artisans.
