Digital may not be the first thing that pops into your head when thinking of high end timepieces; rather, the field is littered with fully mechanical automatics with a penchant for golf, diving and motor sports – or so the ads say, anyhow. Ventura’s Sparc MGS couldn’t be more different. Contained within it’s curved, elongated face is a micro generator and flywheel that collect kinetic energy, powering the precise, backlit liquid crystal display. A 45 day power reserve eliminates the need for watch winders, even for occasional wearers, while both the display and generator – separated by the simple scroll wheel with which the watch is controlled – are protected behind sapphire crystal glass.
