Ron Arad Architects were commissioned by Notify Jeans to transform a 1930s factory in central Milan into a modern showroom in which to exhibit its collections each season. Focusing on the existing atrium that spans from the ground to the roof was of the utmost importance during its creation. An opening in the ground floor was created, allowing the atrium to flow down into the basement. Mirror polished stainless steel strips surface from the basement, twisting as they travel through the atrium and out onto the roof terrace, forming a beautiful canopy. The twists in the strips allow for the obstruction or revealing of certain objects to their viewers dependent upon the angle.
