Swedish engineer Stig Carlsson challenged the audio industry by developing a speaker for real living rooms, rather than perfectly damped rooms. He designed the speaker to project from the top so sound could reverberate off the ceiling and walls to fill a room. The name OD-11 stands for “ortho directional 1 plus 1;” in other words, it’s a two-way, ortho-directional loudspeaker.
Design studio Teenage Engineering worked closely with the Stig Carlsson Foundation to build on the designer’s lifelong mission of delivering great natural sound. This 2014 reissue boasts beamforming Wi-Fi technology that streams audio wirelessly from the cloud.
The custom Orthoplay remote control app enables you to control one or multiple speakers with ease, and stores every song you’ve ever played. Inside the speaker is an integrated amplifier that delivers 100W. High-efficiency, ferrofluid cooled neodyum cone tweeter. Long-throw, pulp-cone woofer with magnetic short-circuiting ring. Available in 11 colors. 10.8h x 10.5w x 10.5″d
