This remarkable modernist silver cocktail shaker was originally designed by Sylvia Stave, a designer with the C.G. Hallbergs Company of Stockholm (though originally, and mistakenly, attributed to Marianne Brandt). Roughly dated from the 1920-1930 period, this divine cocktail shaker was first reintroduced in 1989 by Officina Alessi. Crafted from immaculate stainless steel into a most interesting bulbous shape, the shaker is 18 cm in height, with a 13.8 cm diameter. Made under license from the Bauhaus-Archiv in Berlin. It is a wonderful tribute to the pub traditions of the 1920s. Its highly debated origin also adds a bit of mystery and allure to this shaker, which makes drinks in a jiffy.
