The Japanese brand Metaphys, headed by designer Chiaki Murata, represents “a discipline that explores the basic principle of all existences.” What we think is necessary is really necessary for everyday life? Metaphys examines how important the existence of a product is in this world of excessive production.
Metaphys products are designed with the common idea that all the creative processes should start from “observation.” By observing things, you have the perspectives of the second and third persons, and thereby you can avoid being subjective.
Incorporating good design elements into a utilitarian object often results in something more desirable and, hence, longer lived. Employing matched triangular elements, the Metaphys Lucano Stepstool is light, strong and sturdy, while maintaining a slim attractive visual profile.
Constructed of aluminum with hidden fasteners and smooth, rounded moldings, surfaces and edges. Features safety latch, safety bar, non-skid feet and wide, treaded steps. Self-standing when folded to a slim 6″ depth. Available in Black, Red or White satin finish.
The original 2-step Lucano Stepstool has been awarded the Reddot Design, Good Design and the JIDA Design Museum selection awards. The 3-step Lucano Stepstool allows better reach. It is perfect for small jobs around the house, and nice enough not to be hidden in the broom closet.
