Designed by Josef Hoffmann (1870-1956) for the Wiener Werkstaette and presented for the first time to the public at the “La tavola apparecchiata” (“The set table”) exhibition at the WW’s exhibition space in Neustifgasse 32 in Vienna, this cutlery was produced by hand in silver and silver plate until 1910-12. The service, which was in dotazione anche al Cabaret Fledermaus, fully reflects the search for functionality combined with extreme formal elegance and refined working of materials that are so typical of the Wiener Werkstaette. And if some contemporaries had reservations on the practicality of some of the pieces (the transversal concavity of the tablespoon was a controversial point), these were quickly dispelled by those who actually used them. Made in 18/10 stainless steel, the cutlery was reissued by Alessi in 2000.
Set includes table knife, table fork, original table spoon, dessert fork and tea spoon. Dishwasher safe.
